Churchill Downs.

Jake got free tickets to Churchill Downs as part of his orientation, they also gave us $20 worth of coupons for food there but that doesn't get you much sadly. We had two soda's, two ice cream cones, and two bottles of water. $20=spent. It was still fun though.

Getting the horses to the starting gate.

And they're off!

The seats, we were in general admission.

They changed the starting gate to be right by us for one of the races.

Nice guy letting the kids touch his horse.

Lined up and ready to go!

Jake bet $2 on #10 and we lost miserably, he was the second to last horse to cross the finish line.

Just out of the gates.

Last race we stayed for.

It was a lot of fun to see the races, the horses are beautiful.  They had some bands and a pretty famous DJ coming later on, like right after we left I think, since there were crowed of "younger" people still coming in.  It's called Downs After Dark and it goes till like midnight or something.  We'd already been there since about 6:00 PM (and Jake isn't much of a dancer ;) ) so we called it quits at about 10:00 PM since just about everyone we knew there had kids.  It's been a lot of fun seeing different things that you would never see in Utah, the one downfall is there's A LOT more smokers which kind of sucks cause you really can't get away from it pretty much anywhere you go.

It's getting warmer here too, it's in the 90's today and the humidity was killer yesterday since it was cloudy.  We've had a lot of nice late afternoons since the sun doesn't completely set till around 9:00 PM or so and it gets pretty nice.  We've been playing volleyball almost every afternoon with the people that live in the apartments with us (and basically half our ward) which has been a blast.  It's kind of sad not being around family for the holiday's though.  We missed the parade yesterday in Riverton for the first time since we've met, and even longer for Jake since he's been going since he was young.  Plus not getting to laugh at our nieces and  nephews faces as they watch the fireworks is a bummer.  We miss all of you a lot.  Thank goodness we'll be seeing you for Christmas!
